Possi Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 I have always worked alone, with no employees and no paid assistance. This year, I will be bringing a friend in to help me. She is a neighbor and will work as she is available, getting paid on a W2. She may be working some full time during peak, and she is definitely seasonal. My health insurance is purchased through my corp account. Will I get in trouble if I don't offer her health insurance? I don't think I will, but verification would be lovely. Quote
rfassett Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 You should have some sort of company policy (in writing) that states if and when an employee would become eligible for any benefits offered by the company. For the record, part year full-time work does not constitute a full time employee - at least not where I work and play. You policy could be based on hours worked per year, years (or months) of service, etc. If you have such a policy, you should have no concern for getting into trouble. 4 Quote
