ILLMAS Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Since last week, I have not been able to open two returns at the same time, didn't have a problem at last year or up to recently, what gives? Quote
schirallicpa Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I only had that happen a couple of times this year, but in the last couple of weeks. Earlier in the year, no problem. I wondered as well Quote
rfassett Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I would bet that the files are bigger at this later date and your computer resources do not have the capacity to open both returns at once. I agree, could do it with no problem early in the season - hit and miss now. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 That happens occasionally to me but usually later in the day. So I close and reopen the program. I think too much stuff hangs around and it needs to clear out and begin fresh. Might work for you. Quote
JMovichEA Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I'm not quite sure about this, but I think there is also some kind of "rollover server" that loads in memory if you roll over returns. I've got into the habit of closing and re-opening the software after rolling over. Only once this season did I have a low resource error. Overall the software worked very well, still a few 'server' problems, but a lot less than in prior years. Quote
joanmcq Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I keep the task manager open and check the memory and CPU usage when it starts running slow. Have to reboot periodically and if I need a big memory clean out, reboot the computer. I had my first crash today, of course when I'm barely able to type my password. 1 Quote
