ILLMAS Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 Has anyone else develop some type of sense when you see TP W-2's and right away know they are going to owe? 3 Quote
Lion EA Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I have a couple that jump out. And, at least one that has no interest in increasing his withholding. 4 Quote
BHoffman Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 If I see the withholding is less than 10%, I figure it's a pretty safe bet they will owe. 8 Quote
FDNY Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 It's the repeaters that get to me after you told them last year to reduce an exemption or two. Or have more kids, they don't like that comment, but I get a kick out of it. 5 Quote
Roberts Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 Lady delivered her tax info last Thursday. On Monday late afternoon she finally informs me what her IRA contribution will be for the year. Then declares she has to meet me today to pick up and go over the return because it just isn't convenient the rest of the week and she doesn't want to wait until next week. My spidey sense informs me she didn't like my response. 5 Quote
RitaB Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 Actually my spidey sense can spot them without seeing the W-2s. Everybody that drops off last week of March - December. Every. One. 5 Quote
Abby Normal Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I had one where the IRS sent a notice to their employer and forced them to have more taxes withheld, after 3 years of owing and needing an installment plan. Icing on the cake? It was my ex's new spouse! 6 Quote

I think it's like the walk of shame. 5 Quote

I'm right on board with this one. Do the same thing and like everyone else, I have the folks that I have told for a few years to increase withholdings or do something relevant to their situation like estimates etc and to no avail they don't follow through. Get all those ugly looks when they have to pay again. 5 Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 Yes but everyone else they know gets back thousands of dollars and doesn't have to pay taxes and why do they have to pay so much and we should go to a fair tax based on what we buy but the government should send everyone a rebate check monthly to cover what they paid for food and .... Yeah, they don't like my responses this time of year either. 4 Quote
joanmcq Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 I did just have one of my habitual non filers (well, he'd show up every 3 years or so) file for maybe the first time ever before April 15. I told him the IRS computers may explode. 4 Quote
schirallicpa Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 Ha - my secretary refers to her own spidey sense when she knows it's going to be a troublesome client and we should just say "no". 1 Quote
