neilbrink Posted April 7, 2016 Report Posted April 7, 2016 My client received a 1099-INT from his grandson (evidently a loan to the grandson). The worksheet does not want to take the grandson's social number, only wants a tax ID number. How do we go about reporting this interest. Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted April 7, 2016 Report Posted April 7, 2016 You can enter it as a seller financed mortgage and it will accept it. Quote
RitaB Posted April 7, 2016 Report Posted April 7, 2016 The ID number and address of the payer is not required when you use the 1099-Int worksheet. If you wanted to, you could enter SSN right after name of payer. 2 Quote

Lion EA Posted April 8, 2016 Report Posted April 8, 2016 I called a client to ask if his oldest son filed his own return as I thought he told me in an earlier phone call, but have son's paperwork from dad. Confused the heck out of dad. It was another family with two sons with one of the names being Josh in each family. I did write notes from the earlier call and did have them in the folder of the correct family, a folder that was a little deeper in my stack. Woke up this morning knowing I had notes and found them and emailed the dad that I confused and gave profuse apologies and swore I got sleep last night and was good to prepare his family's five sets of returns with no more confusion. Lied through my teeth. 6 Quote
