Chris R Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 I had to inform one of my clients that they would have to pay back all of the PTC they received during the year. All $9000. Needless to say, they were not happy. Turns out they informed their insurance agent that the husband got a job in April and insurance. So there should have been a change for the monthly premiums they paid but there wasn't and they went on paying what they were told. I spoke with the agent and she says they did send the change into Covered CA but apparently it never went through. She is filing an appeal with Covered Ca but says its a slim chance they will change it. I explained to the client that if the change would have happened as it should have, they should have paid in over 7500 for health insurance yet they only paid about 2500. I don't think it softened the blow much. Hopefully they can recoup the difference. I hate I had to be the one to tell them. Quote
Abby Normal Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 I've had two clients so far whose 1095A forms were wrong. Are you sure your client actually received APTC after the husband got on other insurance? Quote
Chris R Posted March 14, 2016 Author Report Posted March 14, 2016 Yes. I double checked check stubs and spoke to the agent who checked on covered ca site just to be sure. Quote
Tax Prep by Deb Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 I'm having a lot of issues with Covered California. The only 1095A that are right are the ones who had no changes at all. Quote
