Kea Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I prepared a tax return for a California resident. A week later she received a 1099R. When she sends the CA amended to the FTB, does she have to include the Federal 1040X? Does she attach the 1099R? - There was federal withholding but not CA. I have the mailing address, but any other assembly assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Quote
jainen Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 >>does she have to include the Federal 1040X?<< What, are you running low on paper? Just attach the whole federal file-- the X plus a new 1040, new schedule A if AGI affects it, and anything else new. You don't want them looking too close to see if something might be missing. Quote
Kea Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 No, paper supply is fine. Just wanting to save postage. Thanks. Quote
jmallard Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 You need to submit the 1099-R also. Copy B goes to Fed and Copy 2 to the State. Quote
Kea Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 I appreciate all the help. I will mail the forms and instructions to the client today. This board helps me feel more comfortable keeping my clients even when they move to other states. (And all those other questions that come up!) Thanks. Quote
