Lee B Posted February 11, 2016 Report Posted February 11, 2016 iF YOU ARE RUNNING A 64 BIT VERSION OF WINDOWS HERE IS A LINK TO A AN ARTICLE IN "HOW TO GEEK" ABOUT CHECKING TO SEE WHAT VERSION OF CHROME YOU HAVE INSTALLED AND HOW TO UPGRADE. TO MY SURPRISE MY 64 BIT WIN 7 PRO WAS STILL USING A 32 BIT VERSION OF CHROME WHICH IS SLOWER, LESS SECURE, ECETERA: http://www.howtogeek.com/241501/you-should-upgrade-to-64-bit-chrome.-its-more-secure-stable-and-speedy/ 2 Quote
JohnH Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Thanks for that heads up. I found I was running the 32 bit version as well, so I immediately upgraded. That also spurred me to add the Chrome browser to my iPhone. I think it is faster than Safari, although Safari was pretty efficient already. It's nice to have both, giving me choices. 1 Quote
Catherine Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 I also appreciate the information and will upgrade to the 64-bit version today. In about three minutes, in fact. Quote
Bonanza 23B Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 Thanks for this information. I just upgraded to the 64 bit version and it is faster. Quote
Lion EA Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 I tried downloading the versions that had 64 bit after the name; and my current version does NOT. But, it tells me it cannot download the same version I already have! 1 Quote
Robin Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 Thank you for the "heads up", also needed to upgrade! Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 Same thing happened to me, Lion. But I usually use FIreFox, so no biggie. Quote
Abby Normal Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 Firefox has a 64 bit version, too. Quote
Lion EA Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 Hey, Gail. I tried again today. Same messages. But, I closed everything and was going to try downloading via IE when I noticed I have a Chrome Setup on my desktop. Clicked and it installed. I'm in the 64-bit now! I think it's faster. 1 Quote
