Hugo Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 I have this client the taxpayer, she had a lady last year to come once every two weeks to clean and organize her house. Taxpayer is giving a 1099 Misc to the cleaning lady for the cash payments she paid. where within her tax return do we claim this expense (the cleaning) if claimable ? I know the household tax, but that's for a person who was considered an employee right? your input is appreciated. thanks Quote
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 someone to clean your home? no office in home, no deduction. If OIH, then I would include in the OIH expenses and allocate accordingly. 1 Quote
Abby Normal Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 If some part of the organizing was related to tax record keeping, that portion might be a 2% misc itemized deduction, which probably won't save any taxes anyway. Quote
Terry D EA Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Did she pay cleaning services over $600.00? No where to take the amount as an expense as Lynn said and I agree the misc itemized deduction subject to the 2% would probably not return anything. Quote
