Randall Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 If a W2 correction has only a state amount change, do we still submit a W3c and W2c to SSA? Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 If it doesn't affect the SSA, I would only correct the state. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 This is why I never transmit or send W-3 forms till the end of February. This allows time to correct mistakes and avoid W-2C and W-3C. Quote
Lion EA Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 CT's moving it's deadlines up to 31 January! Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 Nebraska moved theirs up to 1/31 also. Quote
BLACK BART Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 21 hours ago, Randall said: If a W2 correction has only a state amount change, do we still submit a W3c and W2c to SSA? This is from page three of the "Instructions for Forms W-2c and W-3c" - Revision of April 2010 which is the latest I could find: "Boxes 15 through 20 - State/local taxes. If your only changes to the original Form W-2 are to state or local data, do not send Copy A of Form W-2c to the SSA. Instead, send Form W-2c to the appropriate state or local agency and furnish copies to your employees." This is what the link below says - I couldn't get it pull up from inside this post (maybe you can), but that's the text. So anyway, it looks like NECPA is right. https://www.drew.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/96/iw2cw3c.pdf 1 Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 Virginia requires W2s by Jan. 31, or if the company goes out of business or ceases to have employees, by 30 days after the last employee payment. Quote
Randall Posted January 30, 2016 Author Report Posted January 30, 2016 Thanks all, especially Bart. Ky is due 1/31. I just like to get them done by 1/31 and not have that 'to do' hanging around until 2/28. Sometimes there's a need for a change. It's not that often. Quote
