taxguy057 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Got a client with a daughter that is 22 that lived with him but works on her own. Can he use her for HOH status without being a dependent and if so will it affect filing her own taxes? Quote

Should be able to find it easily in TAXBook, or even Pub 17. this rule is a couple of years old at least. Not like the good old days!! Quote
Pacun Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 If she is a full time student MAYBE. But student could not claim her exemption (maybe father or mother could take exemption). Quote
jainen Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 >>she is a full time student MAYBE<< Full time just means at least one day in each of five months. A lot of students graduate at age 22, and by the time April 15th of the following year comes around, they've put it all behind them and no longer consider themselves a qualifying child. Quote
