Anne in Virginia Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 I keep getting an error message from the ATX program saying Dependent is older than 16 and is not eligible for the Child Tax Credit. The dependent is a 19 and a full-time student. Shouldn't he be eligible? Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 A child that is older than 16 is not eligible for the child tax credit. They should be eligible as a dependency exemption. Quote
Pacun Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 If income and household membership permit, there is only one more requirement (this requirement cannot be changed with student status or incapacity)... the child has to be under 17 on December 31 of the tax year. Quote
