MAMalody Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 About five years ago I was able to convert an ATX Tax Organizer to a Word doc. The program that I was using quit working with Windows 95 or 7. Can't remember which. The program was not updated so no longer available. Does any know of a program that I can use to convert the ATX Tax Organizer to a Word doc? All my clients use the Tax Organizer and they are all transmitted via e-mail attachment. Currently, I have had to generate an Excel tax organizer that they use, however, it does not have the prior year data which many of my clients find useful. Any idea? Quote
Abby Normal Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Nuance PowerPDF Standard can do it. It integrates with Windows Explorer, so you can right-click a pdf file and choose convert to word doc or excel. BUT the reason I bought it is because it will convert the PDF to a fillable PDF. Unfortunately, it's not a batch process so you have to do one file at a time, but it does it quite quickly. If you buy it, tell them you want version 1.0 because it does a better job than 1.2. You can probably find 1.0 on ebay or amazon if you don't mind having a license that the support has expired on. I needed 5 copies so I bought one from the company and 4 on ebay. It's $69.99 from the company and I paid between 29.99 and 34.99 on ebay for the other 4. 2 Quote
Abby Normal Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) Here's a link to download the standard version 1.0. I think you can use it in trial mode for 30 days. WARNING: It's a 1.6GB download because it contains ALL languages. Edited November 4, 2015 by jmdaviscpa Forgot to insert link. 1 Quote
MAMalody Posted November 5, 2015 Author Report Posted November 5, 2015 Downloaded and tried it. Makes great .pdf and Excel forms. The problem is they are not fillable. Maybe I should have mentioned that. Since all my clients use the tax organizer and send it via e-mail attachement back to me, it is critical that they can fill it out on their computer and do not have to print and scan to get it back to me. Am I missing something, here? Quote
Abby Normal Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 Are you sending them the excel version or the pdf?To make a pdf fillable, go to the Forms tab and click on Fillable Form. Quote
MAMalody Posted November 8, 2015 Author Report Posted November 8, 2015 I am currently sending them an Excel file that made up. I would prefer to send a fillable .pdf. 1 Quote
Abby Normal Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 That's what I'm doing this year, fillable pdf. Quote
MAMalody Posted November 10, 2015 Author Report Posted November 10, 2015 Are you able to convert the ATX .pdf tax organizer to a fillable doc? I am out of the office and won't be able to try it for a couple of days. Quote
Abby Normal Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 I don't want to send a doc. Not everyone can open a doc. Besides a fillable PDF is much friendlier and easier to use. One of the features is converting a pdf to a doc or an xls, and I'm sure that will come in handy for other things. Just not for organizers. Quote
MAMalody Posted November 15, 2015 Author Report Posted November 15, 2015 I meant doc to mean document not a Word doc. Sorry about that. I am asking about a fillable .pdf document. 1 Quote

Abby Normal Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 That link will probably open in view mode. The file is attached to this message. 2014 Blank Organizer-Fillable.pdf 1 Quote
MAMalody Posted November 16, 2015 Author Report Posted November 16, 2015 I got it to work! Thanks for your patience, I truly appreciated it. 1 Quote
MAMalody Posted November 25, 2015 Author Report Posted November 25, 2015 I bought the Nuance product online and cannot get it to download. I followed the online FAQ and still could not get to to do so. I looked for a phone number on their website to no avail. Does anybody have a phone or suggestion? Quote
Abby Normal Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 Here's the download link for version 1.0. Do not upgrade to the newer versions because it chooses too small of a font for some of the organizer input boxes. This is unfortunately a large download because it contains all languages. Quote
MAMalody Posted December 1, 2015 Author Report Posted December 1, 2015 I finally got it sorted out. Their website was no help at all. Thanks for you help...now on to the ATX program. Ran into errors. but only getting started on sorting it out. Have a great day! 1 Quote
