Dimpy Gulati Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 Hey Guys,I am planning to start my own CPA practice very soon. Right now, I am evaluating all the tax softwares available in the market. I have used ATX before and am well-versed with the ATX features. However, today I came across UltraTax CS and Drake tax softwares too.Can anyone guide if UltraTax CS shall be considered for preparing tax returns? Thanks in advanceDimpy Quote
Lion EA Posted August 4, 2015 Report Posted August 4, 2015 Ultra Tax is a great software, but pricey. I like ProSystem fx better, and saved money with pay-per-return. Both those are in a different league and different price range than either Drake or ATX. Only you know what your priorities are and only you know how you work. Get the demos of everything out there and try them out to see which work the way you think and which will handle your expected clientele now and for years to come. When you get your short list, then call the companies to negotiate prices on the ones you like best. 3 Quote
TAG Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Dimpy,I've used a lot of them over the 40+ years I've been doing this. I would suggest that you start with Drake and as your client base becomes more complex to add a pay per return more expensive software.Best of luck in your new career. 1 Quote
Dimpy Gulati Posted August 5, 2015 Author Report Posted August 5, 2015 Thanks Lion EA and TAG. I really appreciate your response. Quote
Lee B Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 There are so many things to do when starting your own practice, I suggest that you stick with what you know as long as you are comfortable with ATX. 1 Quote
