Max W Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Got back an efile rejection that reads -" Form 1040, Line 6c, for each dependent provided, if eligible for CTC is checked, then that dependents age must be under 17.There are three dependents. The oldest was born 1998, making age 16 in 2014????Has anyone run across this? Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Verify his DOB from his birth certificate. IRS very seldom gets this one wrong. Even some parents don't know the exact birthdate of their children. 2 Quote
Kea Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 And sometimes Social Security gets it wrong. It may be rare, but it happened to one of my clients a couple of years ago. He had to go to Social Security office with son and son's birth certificate. Turns out they made the son 2 years older than he really was. It was corrected before the October extension deadline.Note - returns had been accepted for several years. Previously IRS had not (always?) verified dependents' birthday. 1 Quote
