Catherine Posted June 12, 2015 Report Posted June 12, 2015 Anyone else going? I just signed up. I think today is the last day of the extra-discount ($72 off) the registration. PM me if you need the event code. Would love to see a friend or three there. Quote
B. Jani Posted June 12, 2015 Report Posted June 12, 2015 Not to Philly but going to New Orleans for a week in July and attend the NATP for CE. 1 Quote
jklcpa Posted June 12, 2015 Report Posted June 12, 2015 It's close enough to me that I wish I'd known about it sooner. I'm not a member of NATP, so I didn't know about the expo being in Philly. 1 Quote

Gail in Virginia Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 Catherine, I have not signed up yet but unless something changes I expect that I will be attending. I hope to see you there! 1 Quote
BulldogTom Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 I think you all ought to come to Las Vegas instead....because the desert in the middle of summer is a much better experience. (s). But the pool at the Rio looks inviting.Patty and I will be going to LV. The flights and hotels and rental cars are so cheap I can't pass this one up. Anyone else going to Las Vegas?Never been to an NATP event. Looking forward to it.TomNewark, CA 1 Quote

However, Ethel M's chocolate museum and factory tour was great (the original M&M's company). They were just building the Hoover Dam highway bypass too. My daughter Gwen (the one who just graduated college) and I had a one-day stopover on our way home from fiddle camp in CA that year. Quote
BulldogTom Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) I think I am going to try and get tickets to Jersey Boys. I have not been to a good musical since we saw "Cats" in London on our honeymoon. That was a long time ago.TomNewark, CA Edited June 16, 2015 by BulldogTom spelling error 2 Quote
kcjenkins Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Tom, where are you flying from, and did you find a good deal on the flight? Quote
BulldogTom Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Tom, where are you flying from, and did you find a good deal on the flight? I have not booked the flight yet, but Southwest is offering $73 each way out of San Jose. They usually don't raise their fares until 21 days before the flight so I am going to wait until I book the conference on the last day before the discount expires and book my flights and hotels the same day.The Rio looks really nice, but I think we might go to Downtown LV for our hotel. It is a lot less expensive, even if the rooms are not as nice as the "Strip". I can get rooms for about $30-50 in downtown. There is one for $19, but I stayed their one time and the rooms are very tiny. Are you going to this tax forum?TomNewark, CA Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Is anyone attending the IRS Tax Forum in National Harbor? I plan to attend. Quote
kcjenkins Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 Tom, just sort of debating it. The nice thing about staying in the hotel where the sessions are conducted is that you have no taxi fees, travel time, etc. Since it's only 2 or 3 days, the difference in room cost is not that big. I've gone to them in Vegas several times in the past, because the travel costs to Vegas were always a lot less than to anywhere else. We always stayed in the hosting hotel, and the NATP sessions were always valuable and well run. Staying in the same place made it easier to attend more sessions than I expect we would have if we had to travel back and forth. I will let you know if I decide to go, so we can get together. Quote

We are planning to go to a show, and we might stay and extra day or two, so the difference in the hotel cost will offset the cost of a rental car. My Sister may be out in LV for other reasons that weekend, so we may stay to spend some time with them. If the Rio was right on the strip, instead of across the highway, I might have stayed there. But the vibe in Downtown, with the street vendors and the LV experience makes it a nice place to stay.Keep us in mind if you decide to go. I am thinking that I want to go see Jersey Boys. Are you interested?TomNewark, CA Quote
