ETax847 Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 I received an email today to renew my ATX software at "the best rate of the year." Did anyone else get this? Will you try to negotiate a better rate? Will anyone renew this early? Quote
ETax847 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Report Posted April 22, 2015 I clicked through and the "best rate" is $1,337. Quote
easytax Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Received same ad. Emailed my rep. (also, Jason Marx, president CCH and my reps. boss and my reps. sub-rep) and asked where the "discount code" was to fill-in the box for the "page with the best price" rather than the RETAIL price shown on the page and on all other CCH/ATX ad's and emails. Also, questioned the additional charge for the initial mailing and "updates" (2 times a year) when historically --- ATX/CCH has (at least for the pass few years) NOT sent me anything other than an initial disk and booklet --- which is not used as all DOWNLOADS, instructions, etc. are all "internet" based for latest information, etc. So I also asked for price without this UN-needed extra price. That was yesterday at 1800 hr. EST and no reply as of now --- 1922 hr. EST April 22, 2015. Quote

Randall Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 I'm seeing Total Tax Package for $1826 plus $99 shipping package. When I look at what the package includes, it doesn't saying anything about Intelliconnect. It does refer to Master Tax Guide, various Tax guide books, practical aids. I'm wondering if they are downsizing us on the tax research tools. Quote
Christian Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Like easytax I find that fee for the discs largely a farce now when the entire program is downloadable from the internet. I'll wait to see how that one turns out. I too am and wondering where the discount is hidden. Edited April 23, 2015 by Christian Quote
easytax Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Let us know how far that gets you. I predict nowhere. I agree Jack --- it will go no where --- but I am a die-hard (remember they had Bruce Willis in a movie and with sequels about my attitude). Thursday (today) received no less than four emails (ad's all from CCH?ATX) about locking in prices, etc. (still no other response) -- BUT -- with one small change --- in the one email they mention that the price (what I consider retail) will GO UP after May 31, 2015. I only renew by phone with my sales rep. If the discounts go away, all the pesky irritating program problems better be gone too!! Otherwise, I will be calling tech support every single day till it is fixed. If they promote their product as first rate and try to price it that way, then the delivery better be improved over 2014. Especially the server retry issue. Tech and management try to blame it on hardware until the log in and see my config. Then the truth comes out. The program and the database are overwhelmed when the client list exceeds 250 or so. Just my rant!! Quote
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 http://go.cchsfs.com/atx-ab-2015packagechanges ATX next year, per the above, will have an efile fee for w2's and 1099's - I cannot wait to hear from my rep, bill fox, how much those fees will be ( s / ) !!! Quote
joanmcq Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 No $#1+. I am pissed about that, and the fee exists with the total tax office too. I create the efile with ATX and then file at the SSA website. Why should it be extra to efile 1099s? BTW, Medlin creates the W2 efile as well as ATX. Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 What a bunch of garbage. I really don't want to look around, because I have been happy with ATX, but if they are going to start charging for every little thing, I will have to. There is no reason for them to charge for W-2's, since they aren't even filing them. I know that I can pass on the fee, but it's getting ridiculous. Quote
Randall Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 joanmcq, what does Medlin include? I do some quarterly payroll returns, year end 1099s and W2s. I don't bother with efiling these. But I'm wondering if I go with Drake, I'll need something to replace the payroll returns. I would also probably pick up Parker Tax Service to replace the Intelliconnect. If total pricing would be about the same as ATX Total Tax, it's something to consider. Quote
Lee B Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 I've taken a good look at Medlin several times. It will do the following: 1. Payroll Processing and ATF payroll recordkeeping 2. Print 94x and 1099 forms 3. Create W -3 & W - 2 efiles for transmission just like ATX 4. It will do quarterly reports for a limited number of states and a generic report for other states 1 Quote

Rather than hijacking this topic with info about the workings of Drake for payroll and 1099 filing, I've started a >new topic here. It also has a brief mention of how they negotiate for great prices for research products for their customers too. Edited April 25, 2015 by jklcpa moved my post to a new topic in Drake subforum so to not hijack here Quote

And, the cost is right. 1 Quote
joanmcq Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 This year I did just use Medlin for the W2s. I will not paper file 1099s; it's a pain in the butt. Unlimited efiling should be just that. 2 Quote
Lee B Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 Does anyone know whether the ATX efiling fee of $1.50 is per 1099/W -2 or per client ? Quote
