Eric Posted April 18, 2015 Report Posted April 18, 2015 It's good to see that most of you survived tax season with your sanity (mostly) intact. The forum is going to receive a pretty significant makeover soon, but it will require some downtime, perhaps an entire day, to complete all of the changes. My question you you folks is when the best time for that is? When will things be sufficiently slow that taking down the site for a day won't be a huge disruption? 2 Quote
JohnH Posted April 18, 2015 Report Posted April 18, 2015 Any time works for me. I say schedule it when it is convenient for you. 8 Quote
jklcpa Posted April 18, 2015 Report Posted April 18, 2015 Eric, whatever is most convenient for you works for me. 5 Quote
Tax Prep by Deb Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Best to fit in around your schedule. Although we will suffer withdrawal for a day, it won't be the end of the world! 6 Quote
BulldogTom Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 My preference is for Sunday. No clients. No work really. But I have no objection to you taking it down any time you want. Whatever works for you. Tom Newark, CA 2 Quote
Yardley CPA Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Eric...thank you. What works best for your schedule is how you should proceed. We'll survive without the Community for a few days while you do your thing! 3 Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 As long as it is after April 15, and we know that you will eventually get the forum back up for us, we will be fine. As someone mentioned, we might have withdrawal symptoms, but all will be well once we get our next "fix." 6 Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Just please warn us a day in advance, and we will try to survive it! 4 Quote
Eric Posted April 19, 2015 Author Report Posted April 19, 2015 I'm going to shoot for next weekend. I'm going to get the ball rolling on Saturday May 2, and hope to have it finished by the end of the day on Sunday. That is, unless I forget, which has been known to happen. 8 Quote
jklcpa Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Eric, is there anything that will be lost that should be printed out or copied to a file such as our private messages? 2 Quote
Eric Posted April 19, 2015 Author Report Posted April 19, 2015 Nothing will be lost. There's an extensive migration process (it takes hours to run) that should get 100% of the data into the new format. I'll be making full file and database backups before I start, so if anything does turn up missing I'll be able to roll it all back. 5 Quote
Catherine Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Eric, THANK YOU for taking such good care of us! 5 Quote
Terry D EA Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Thanks Eric and whatever works in your schedule works for me. 1 Quote
Eric Posted April 26, 2015 Author Report Posted April 26, 2015 I'm going to start preparing for the upgrade tonight, and the site will most likely be down tomorrow or the next day for the actual upgrade. 7 Quote
