jasdlm Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 Taxpayer works for a State University. State Income in Box 16 is higher than Box 1 income, but I can't figure out what the adjustment is for. It doesn't tie to any of the numbers in box 14. I just skimmed through the PA instructions and didn't see anything. I'll slow down and try again, but does anyone know what this 'add back' is? Thanks much! Quote
rfassett Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 Does box 16 come close to box 3? Is there an entry in box 12? Quote
jasdlm Posted April 13, 2015 Author Report Posted April 13, 2015 Box 16 is $2,268 more than Box 1. HI in Box 12 of 5,467, 403(b )of $3,000, and moving expense reimbursement of $2,184. Box 14 says '14D, $2,815.60', PA LS 21.65. Thanks for any help. Quote
rfassett Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 The 403 contribution is taxed in PA. The LS in box 14 is actually LST (Local Services Tax) which is a Schedule A deduction. Not familiar with 14D in box 14 nor understand why moving expense reimbursement is in box 12. But your biggest difference is in the 403. Just off the 403, the PA wages should be $3,000 higher than the box 1 wages. Box 3 should be closer to the PA wages. Quote
