NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 Student attends college in IL and worked in Illinois part time, but is resident of NE. Does IL tax the scholarship amount or does NE? I checked the IL instructions, and it doesn't mention it. I know that technically it is in IL, but I'm tired and confused. Thank you! Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 I'd assume that IL would tax it, and NE would also tax it, but give them credit for the tax paid to IL. 1 Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 That's what I assumed, KC, but I doubt myself constantly these days. 1 Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 It's just like if they had W-2's from two states. You are just tired. Glad I could reassure you. Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted April 3, 2015 Author Report Posted April 3, 2015 I was hoping for a better result. IL has a much higher tax rate and it cost him quite a bit more money, but at least he received great scholarships. Quote
