Yardley CPA Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Client has new adopted daughter who has yet to receive her SSN. Can you indicated that a dependents SSN was applied for ? Quote
kcjenkins Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Yes, but it may not speed anything up, since you would have to paper file, and it might well delay things longer than waiting for the SSN. If they have a local SSA office, they might be able to take their paperwork there and get someone there to look up the number for them. At least, several [10-12?] years ago that worked for a client of mine. 2 Quote
MsTabbyKats Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 "Applied For".....will be rejected. It's easier to wait for the SS# and e-file. Quote
Yardley CPA Posted March 21, 2015 Author Report Posted March 21, 2015 Client is heading to SSA on Monday to see if he can obtain any information or expedite things. Time will tell.. Extension, here we come?? Quote
MsTabbyKats Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 I'd file and amend if it's going to be a long wait. I do that sometimes for ITIN applicants...so they get part of their refund 1 Quote
kcjenkins Posted March 23, 2015 Report Posted March 23, 2015 I think what Tabby means is, consider filing without the new child, and then amending to add that child when the SSN comes through. Makes sense, if, for example, they would have a $2000 refund without him, , and $3500 with him. 1 Quote
