RitaB Posted February 14, 2015 Report Posted February 14, 2015 What's up that when I amend a return the client letter does not include the IRS mailing address? I haven't been good at the client letter since 2012 program, just saying. Quote
Pacun Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) When you amend returns for previous years, chances are that the IRS has changed addresses or locations. Just saying. Edited February 15, 2015 by Pacun Quote
RitaB Posted February 15, 2015 Author Report Posted February 15, 2015 It's for 2014. Just had my first one where the parent was too smart to pay me to do Junior's return ($35), and Junior claimed his own exemption. It's a little aggravating that I still don't understand the letter. At least 2012 and 2013, the client letter gave the mailing address on an amended return. This letter still says I'm e-filing Junior's amended return. I know, it's something easy, but you don't know what you don't know. Junior is just not getting a letter, and of course the address is on the far right tab of Form 1040. It's all good, just irritating to be wasting time. 1 Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I do not use the client letter other than the cover sheet. Clients don't read them anyway. Seems it is too much trouble and a waste of their time. Quote
Richcpaman Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Have you unchecked the "efiling" box on the client letter? Both Fed and State? When we default to efiling, then we don't see the addresses... Rich Quote
RitaB Posted February 16, 2015 Author Report Posted February 16, 2015 Yes, I have checked "let the program decide" and there is no state return. I'm done with this issue until I have some free time, which I guess will be May, but I appreciate the comments and suggestions. I just wish the program did what it has always done and print the mailing address on the letter when you have a 1040X. Just leave $#^& alone already. 2 Quote
Abby Normal Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Because they added a new preference to make the letter always say 'will be efiled', whenever you need the letter to be for a paper filed return, you have to go to Preferences, Client Communications and temporarily change it to Calculate based on efile status. Horrible impementation, ATX! Quote
RitaB Posted February 16, 2015 Author Report Posted February 16, 2015 Because they added a new preference to make the letter always say 'will be efiled'... I think they've had that for awhile now. Not to be argumentative, and I'm really letting this go now. In 3, 2, 1... Quote
