Marie Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 dependent (under 18) made 7776 - how much do I add into household income(line 7) of the shared responsibility worksheet. I think the dependent threshold is 7750, am I correct? She will file as a dependent on her parents' tax return. Quote
jklcpa Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 No, you looked at the figures for a dependent over 65 or blind. Your dependent has these filing requirement thresholds: when earned income exceeds $6200, unearned income exceeds $1000, or gross income was the larger of $1000, or earned income (up to $5850) + $350 Anyway, this dependent must file, and if his or her MAGI is the $7776, that is the figure you should add into household income. Marie Posted February 10, 2015 Author Report Posted February 10, 2015 SO, If dependent had only made $5000, dependent's income would not have to be added in to parent's income? Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Yes, if unearned. Even if earned. Still below the threshold for filing requirement. Quote
Pacun Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 Even if earned. Still below the threshold for filing requirement. Unearned income has a lower filing requirement 2 Quote
