schirallicpa Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 First of all - i had never heard of this bank. Not around here at all. But I had a client move from NYS to Florida and he sent me the deposit ticket for his refund. And the routing number is 519960424. ATX doesn't like it, and when I looked it up on an online ABA search - it couldn't be found. I have a call into Fifth Third Bank at the number listed on the website. Do any of you have an account with this bank or have clients with this bank? Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Never use deposit tickets for RTN and ACCT# ALWAYS use a voided check. Deposit tickets RTN may not be the same. 5 Quote
rfassett Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 According to the Fifth Third Bank website www.53.com they have (as I suspected) various routing numbers based on region. This is why I tell my staff - no deposit tickets; get a copy of the check. I think you need to contact your client. 5 Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Deposit tickets may have a different number than the checks, even in the same checkbook. ALWAYS use checks. 1 Quote
schirallicpa Posted February 2, 2015 Author Report Posted February 2, 2015 i had not run into this before in our little small town. thank you!!! voided checks only. 1 Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Fifth Third Bank is pretty big around here https://www.53.com/about/regions-we-serve/I agree with the others - never use deposit ticket, only check with routing number. Quote
Janitor Bob Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 042202196 is the routing for my Fifth Third Account...but a larger bank like 5/3 may have multiple routing numbers...I agree with above...look at a check....you don't want that to be the reason for a delayed refund. 1 Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 And since he has the account, he should have a checkbook. Probably the old number did not work because he moved. Quote
MsTabbyKats Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 If it's an "old" check....it may have a routing number from years ago. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Just mark it to send a paper check and be done with it. Quote
TAXMAN Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Jack, that doesn't always work here in VA. They do not like sending out checks. Quote
MsTabbyKats Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Simple solution....ask client to call the bank and verify the routing number Quote
