cpabsd Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 In the past, if there was uncollected SS and Medicare on a W2, the return was not able to be e filed. Does anyone know if these returns can be e filed this year? It seems like a simple item that should still be able to be e filed. I don't want to tell client it can be e filed and run them back to my office to explain it must be paper filed. Thanks for any guidance. Quote
samingeorgia Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I've done it two years running with no problems. Ford employee / retiree with minimal amount of uncollected SS/Medicare on a W-2. Quote
taxtrio Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I efile them all the time. Just enter the information shown on W-2 in appropriate places. Usually code "M" in box 12a, and the amount below, and code "N" in the next box 12a and it's amount. it should charge them the uncollected SocSEc and MEdicare tax on page two of 1040... no problem.
