Jack from Ohio Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Is there an easy way to get all items from my hd to the new ssd? Can it be done? Yes. Is it easy? NO You need an I.T. specialist to help you with the move. Quote
Eric Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 It's really is a bit of a pain. If adding a hard drive to a computer is the kind of thing you could do without googling it, and you understand what partitions/partition tables are, then you can probably do it yourself. If not, then I'm with Jack--take it to someone. Especially if the data on the drive is something you don't want to lose. It doesn't hurt to back up your data before you hand over your computer either. Some technicians aren't as qualified as you would think. Not to make you nervous or anything. If it's a Samsung SSD, they offer decent software for doing the migration. Quote
TAXMAN Posted January 23, 2015 Author Report Posted January 23, 2015 Thanks guys. Me thinks I will wait till season is over then give it a try on one of our less used computers. Yes I will be bring in 2 newbies this spring with the ssd installed but os on them. Quote
FreedomTaxed Posted January 23, 2015 Report Posted January 23, 2015 Jack's right. For the risk, spend the money on having an IT guy make the duplication. Make sure they give you the original drive back; keep it as a catastrophic backup, but it'll soon be obsoleted as you keep making changes. Quote
