cpabsd Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 Client went to work for a local Parks and Rec board. The employer does not withhold SS or medicare. The client wants to pay into SS. How do they go about doing this? A W-2 will be received by the employee. They offer Sect 125 benefits for health insurance. I'm confused as to why SS and medicare is not being withheld but want to help my client out. Quote
Pacun Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 If you have a blank W2 and the client wants to pay SS, just go ahead. Maybe they were a statutory employee or something else. Don't think about it to much and just prepare the taxes the way the clients wants because he has taken an acceptable position. Quote
David W Ristau CPA Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 Sounds to me as if the employee is covered by a municipal retirement plan. Such an item exists in Illinois for certain workers and teachers. More inquiry in the situation to client and client to employer. IMO 1 Quote
