ETax847 Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 Does anyone know how to add them to every return without having to do it individually? Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 Are you sure they are available? I didn't see them. In any event, in the program mark all the returns you wish to have organizers, then click on Returns. Jus above Change Printers is the Organizer option. Mine is still grayed out but if you have them, follow the arrow and add. In prior years, don't yet know for this year, that added only the organizer which I didn't like so I print out selected pages for specific clients. I also print the questionnaire as a blank and include it in with my engagement letters. The cover sheet advises that anyone who would like an organizer should contact me for either a mailed or emailed copy. No one ever has. Quote
Lee B Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 PER ATX: from Stephanie B Customer Care We have focused our efforts on stability this summer, along with speed of certain tasks and simplification of certain tasks (such as backup and restore and client letters). When I have the final list of enhancements, I will post to the board and blog- I want to make sure the enhancements are properly documented before I try posting partial lists here. Note- 13.7 version of ATX 2013 comes out this week and includes the organizers. We have a few ACA health insurance questions in those organizers as well Quote

Lee B Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 MORE FROM ATX : Re: Great Season The majority of the Network users that had issues with our ATX software this year is because they did not allow the Program CD/DVD to set up their server first and then let the Program set up their network. Clients that followed these steps in the setup process had little to no issues this tax season. David Uitermark Lead Customer Service Representative CCH Small Firm Service Quote

MAMalody Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 I have a copy of the organizer and i was glad to see the ACA questions. As one who requires his clients to complete the comprehensive tax organizer, I was looking for those specifically. There are some things that don't make a lot of sense, however, like who has 43 dependents, who has worked for 55 different employers, who has retirment income from 55 different sources, who has foreign income form 55 differenct sources, who has people with 24 seller financed mortgages, 9 spouses and I could probably list a fews others. After working for the IRS for 7 years and over 20 in tax prep, I have never seen these items. Is your experience different than mine and I am all wet (Well, I am a certified scuba diver so I guess I am all wet.). Quote

Alright 1649 hr. 10/21/2014 --- just checked and version 13.6.0.84 is current with no updates (yet). Is there a different place to get a copy of the organizer? I would like to see the ACA questions to compare them with what I put in my own organizer. Thanks. Quote
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 My system is at the same version, but I do have the 'short' organizer. It has one ACA question, #32 'Was there any month in 2014 where the individual health insurance mandate was not met for you or your dependents?' Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 I never even looked to see if I could add an organizer yet until Lynn's note. Sure enough, both organizers are there for tax year 2014. I didn't look in the Forms because the Organizer to add all at once is still grayed out. In the Forms though are the 1040 Organizer and the 1040 Comprehensive Organizer. The one called just Organizer has only 32 general questions and 12 business questions. The one call Comprehensive has LOTS more questions and I really like how you can now add some of your own. Hooray! I don't have to cut and paste my Use Tax question any more! What I don't see are any ACA questions, not even the one above but you would be able to word and include your own, it seems. I think I can get busy after all. Or wait a couple more days to see what appears... 2 Quote
Lee B Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 Based on the ATX posts that I have read the last two days, I believe that ATX has not finalized the 2014 organizers. From ATX Kristin : " I would recommend waiting to make changes to your Organizers until the 13.7 program update is released. The program update enables many of the Organizer features that are not currently available " As far I can determine 13.7 has not been released yet. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 Do you really want to work on Organizers before the Congress plays football with all the tax laws AFTER the election? Most likely the last week in December? They have set a precedent in this area. Me, too much too soon. 2 Quote
