TAXMAN Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 Has anybody heard when IRS will turn off the Efile for this year. Last year it was in November. Have some clients request 30 day ext and was granted. Quote
kcjenkins Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 I think you can only use IRS e-file through October 15. After that it's paper. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 You have till October 20 to resubmit rejected efiles transmitted before or on October 15 for them to be considered timely.Last year the IRS published the date that all e-file was shut down. I can't find it this year either. There will be one, the investigation continues.... 1 Quote
Lee B Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 Actually, last year the personal efile shutdown was as I remember somewhere between the 20th and 25th of November. I just checked the ATX Blog and they stopped transmitting 1040 efiles at 5 PM EST on November 22nd, 2013. Quote
Lion EA Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 That sounds about right. I had some late clients that I filed in November. Quote
Max W Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 As I recall, it usually shuts down the day before Thanksgiving and resumes the 4th week of January. Quote
TAXMAN Posted October 16, 2014 Author Report Posted October 16, 2014 Virginia has a due date of 11-03-2014. Thats why I was asking. Also on some of these returns they have refunds. Small though because of how close the extension was was. Quote

Small though because of how close the extension was was. Louisiana's due date is 11-15-14. Last year on the 15th of November, I tried to e-file and the program told me e-filing was over. I called Customer Service and they had the programmers to re-open e-file (for Louisiana at least). Quote
