easytax Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 I never knew this one .... thought I would share.Veterinary costs for a service dog are deductible medical expenses, IRS says.Ditto for amounts paid to purchase and train the dog plus food and grooming.These animals assist the visually impaired and others who have physical disabilities,so the owners can write off the costs of buying and caring for their dogs on Schedule Ato the extent total medicals exceed 10% of adjusted gross income…7.5% if 65 or older. 4 Quote
