Software ate my rental house

Literally . . . the 'asset entry' screen, all prior depreciation, etc. is simply gone. A blank 4562 is still there. I can't even re-enter the information, because it won't let me back to an 'asset entry' screen. I've tried adding a Schedule E, a Schedule C, anything I can think of to get the Asset Entry screen, but it won't come up. Has anyone experienced this before?

Funny you should mention that.

I had a problem getting the Asset Entry screen to let me enter some data today. This was on a client who already had some assets being depreciated and I just wanted to add a new asset.

I clicked on a couple of the tabs at the bottom of the screen (Summary, Asset History, etc), then went back to the "Input" tab and it started behaving normally. I don't know why...

Is this a new client or did you roll over? Was the data there when you rolled the return over?

This was rollover data. It was there initially, but it has, literally, vanished. I've tried closing and repoening (without saving), and I've tried clicking around. Aaargh! This is so frustrating. Not how I want to spend my time.

How far are you into the return? If not far, you might try deleting the client from the current year and starting agiain with a newly rolled over return.

Open ATX 2006 and look up the information on the asset and enter it manually into ATX 2007.

Software ate my 1040. I had to delete this completed return and start over...by candlelight ; ( I wish more community would share what the software ate.
