JohnH Posted June 27, 2014 Report Posted June 27, 2014 The thing I like about soccer. If the US is doing well in the World Cup, we can watch the games and get excited about it. If they start doing badly, we can just go back to something important and say "Oh well, it's only soccer." 1 Quote
Pacun Posted June 27, 2014 Report Posted June 27, 2014 Soccer is the only place where your enemies/adversaries become your best friends when you need them the most. Portugal wasn't the exception yesterday. Yesterday, my friend said "can you believe it? the German Embassy is putting huge TV screens so American people and German come to see the game. They want to see us said when we loose to them". I said thats the best idea ever, I bet you that both teams will be celebrating at the end of the game. I was right. After watching Belgium play yesterday, we have a chance to win. I love it. And if we loose, ""Oh well, it's only soccer."" Is 4 's ever allowed? I wonder now. Quote
ILLMAS Posted June 27, 2014 Report Posted June 27, 2014 It's unbelievable how many people have jumped on the soccer fever bandwagon, our hometown MLS soccer even gives out free tickets and people still don't attend. Quote
Eric Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 I can't be the only person who goes crazy every time a player falls down holding his shin, screaming, feigning injury. It's pathetic, and I wish they would toss players out for it. 1 Quote
JohnH Posted June 28, 2014 Author Report Posted June 28, 2014 You're right, Eric. That sort of behavior is more reminiscent of a WWE wrestling match than a sporting event. Not that it doesn't happen from time-to-time in American basketball, baseball, or football, but it isn't ubiquitous. It adds a certain "sissified" aspect to the sport when there isn't a genuine injury. 1 Quote
TaxMan60601 Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Well now "Oh well, it's only soccer." But not exactly! Good games indeed. A squad, which any football fan in the world could be proud of! Quote
Pacun Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Nice game yesterday. We do have a good team and improving every year. Quote
ILLMAS Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 For those that don't follow soccer, yesterday's game was a blow out and a World Cup record, ouch!! Quote
TaxMan60601 Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 For those that don't follow soccer, yesterday's game was a blow out and a World Cup record, ouch!! ... and it will never happen again ... for sure ..... But Brazilians could blame on themselves only. This is as a lesson for everyone - even if you are the Host of the football World Cup Finals. The larger the bubble, the more loudly and painful cracking. They had more to lose in the quarterfinals of Columbia and everything would be fine for them, alas ...... Quote
