BulldogTom Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 Hey all, I need to get my contacts up on LinkedIn. If you are a member, invite me to be a contact. Tom Hollister, CA Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 Tom, I would gladly add you but Bulldog Tom in Hollister CA doesn't bring you up. But if you message me your name, I will add you to my contacts. 1 Quote

But if you message me your name, I will add you to my contacts. Thomas R. Carlson I don't hide my name. I guess I never thought that I don't use it on this board. How dumb am I? Now no one will want to be my contact. Tom Hollister, CA Quote
Lion EA Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 When I type in Thomas R. Carlson, I get some guy in Sweden. Do you use another variation on your name in LinkedIn? Quote
kcjenkins Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 I invited you. For those looking for him, he's listed as Thomas Carlson Controller at The G B Group, Inc 2 Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 And I just sent an invite. Not that I am active on that group, but if you just need numbers in your contact list I am there for you! Quote
Eric Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 I have an account, just like I have a Facebook account. I never use them. So, if anyone tries to connect with me through some social media thing and I don't respond, don't take it personally. I haven't even friend-ed my wife. 1 Quote
BulldogTom Posted June 23, 2014 Author Report Posted June 23, 2014 I will hook up with you Tom. Are you sure that is how you meant to say that. My wife may not appreciate it. But I will make you a linkedIn contact. Blushing as I write this. Tom Hollister, CA 2 Quote

It is much more professional than the other social media sites, and I like following certain companies. It is not a place where people post about their cats, vacations, etc. It does keep you up to date with the lives of professionals that you deal with. I found out that one of my best friends in grammar school is now an IRS account resolution specialist in the Fresno office. Tom Hollister, CA Quote
Catherine Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Invite sent, then I logged out. Judy, will add you next time I'm there (and remember!). I am listed at Catherine G White, owner at Grant Financial. Quote

Tom Hollister, CA I understand the benefit of LinkedIn, I'm just universally antisocial. I have received email notifications about requests from people who are members of this forum, and that's the only reason I mentioned it. I feel a little guilty when I ignore them. 1 Quote
kcjenkins Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 It's ok, Eric, I've done that too, mainly because I use it seldom, although like Tom I do find some of the posts very interesting. Feel free to ignore mine. 1 Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 I do not participate in LinkedIn because I have too many things to deal with now, without adding another social networking site. Quote
taxxcpa Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 I joined Linkedin hoping to track down some former co-workers. Found one that I worked closely with and one who remembered me, but I didn't remember him. About two years ago, I invited one person I remembered as one of the best accountants, but she didn't respond until just a few days ago. The problem with Linkedin is that it is primarily a tool for people looking for a job. I get recruiters who try to connect with me, but I don't accept their invitations. I probably should delete my account since i see very little benefit from itl 4 Quote
