Lee B Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 Microsoft is releasing a security update for Internet Explorer that closes a gap that allowed attackers to take complete control of a computer. It also issued the update to Windows XP users, despite dropping support for the older operating system last month. The update will go live at 10 a.m. Pacific time Thursday. Adrienne Hall, general manager of Microsoft Trustworthy Computing, said in a statement that the company decided to fix the problem quickly for all customers, saying it takes the security of its products "incredibly seriously." Microsoft reported the problem Saturday, saying it was aware of "limited, targeted attacks" and that the vulnerability affected Internet Explorer versions 6 through 11 The company said users with automatic updates enabled don't need to take any action Quote

Jack from Ohio Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 The new browser sucks I have been using IE11 since the day they rolled it out. I have not experienced any of the issues so widely acclaimed to be caused by the browser. Tom, I think there are other forces at work causing your problem. Quote
mcb39 Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 I got rid of a lot of annoying problems when I updated to IE 11 several weeks ago. I ran the long scan on Malwarebytes the other night and picked up 148 Pup files which are now in Quarantine. I assume that these are pop ups. Will run CC Cleaner tonight. I love Bill Gates. If not for him, we might still be slogging along in the world of non-technology. I often wonder what my life might have been like if I had access to the devices we have today when I was in my teens and twenties. I'll never know the answer to that, but I learned a lot through reading. Today I learn a lot through my computers and tablets. I don't have a smart phone because I don't need or want one. I do have two tablets both with data through either WiFi or ATT. Love IT. These are the little gifts that I give to ME. 1 Quote

I was not having these problems before I downloaded the new browser with the fix. Immediately after restarting the computer, every site I went to had a delay in response and would freeze up on me. It wasn't happening before I downloaded the update. It is however getting better. It is mostly a problem on sites where I have to type in information like my user name and password. At least it stopped locking up the websites when I tried to scroll through them. It is very hard to type on this board especially because of the delay in seeing the characters appear on the screen. Lee B Posted May 2, 2014 Author Report Posted May 2, 2014 Try clearing your browser cache and your browser history and see if that makes a difference Quote
BulldogTom Posted May 4, 2014 Report Posted May 4, 2014 It is working fine now. Not sure what happened, but it was not good for a couple of days. Tom Hollister, CA 1 Quote
