michaelmars Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 I have an appraisal for a donation, can I pdf it and send it with the return or does it have to go separately with 8453? Quote
Lion EA Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 I had one last season (2012 return) that I attached a .pdf. Client got his refund and no IRS communication. It was maybe a $12,000 collection. Quote
michaelmars Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 chicken feed, mine is $100,000. I am confused because my software brought in the 8453 as if I had to file it but then I saw under efile attachments that I could add it. When I added it the 8453 went away as if not needed. gfizer Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 I've attached them as a PDF in the past without issue, but mine were peanuts compared to yours. Quote
michaelmars Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 I am gonna go with the pdf attached, worst that could happen is they ask for the original. 1 Quote
joanmcq Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 Before there was PDF, the 8453 was necessary. Now it's just an option. I don't know of a requirement for the appraisal to have a wet signature. If the IRS wants the original, they can ask for it. Quote
