gfizer Posted April 2, 2014 Report Posted April 2, 2014 My 9 year old just delivered a handful of the first dandelions of the season to my office door! 9 Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 The best way to start Spring, for sure. Quote
michaelmars Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I know spring is here when all the crazy clients start popping up like weeds. 5 Quote
Carolbeck Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Yeah the crazy clients that seem to know they owe and figure if they procrastinate long enough my Heavy Duty Magic Wand will make it all go away. "You have no life or other clients than me"... Grr They are coming out of the woodwork like fleas... 5 Quote
Eric Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I still have 6' tall snow banks. It's going to be a while before I see dandelions. Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I bet they were not dandelions, but daffodils, which are some of the earliest blooming flowers. Quote
Elrod Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I bet they were not dandelions, but daffodils, which are some of the earliest blooming flowers. These are the earltest...........Can ya guess what they are? Quote
jklcpa Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 For the blue ones pictured on top, is that Siberian Squill? Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Beautiful Iris. Crocus are also very early. For some reason, it will not let me post a pic today, even tho it's a jpg that should be allowed. Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 For the blue ones pictured on top, is that Siberian Squill? Squill petals are smaller, those are Iris. Quote
gfizer Posted April 3, 2014 Author Report Posted April 3, 2014 I bet they were not dandelions, but daffodils, which are some of the earliest blooming flowers. Nope. They were dandelions. My daffodils haven't bloomed yet. Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 OK, my daffys and crocus were always the first thing to bloom. Quote
Catherine Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 My crocuses are buried under ice that avalanched (as snow) from my solar panels. The last of the un-melted ice.... my poor shrubs got SO hammered. Next year I'll have to build those A-frames over them. My daylilies are starting to sprout, though! 1 Quote
jklcpa Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I've got crocus, and the daffodils are almost ready to open. I'm also seeing the start of growth on the roses and my weeping cherry tree has buds. Last night I was very pleased to see grass turning green and earthworms. Sounds silly or corny, I know, but I love this time of year and to see all the things growing after the winter. Quote
gfizer Posted April 3, 2014 Author Report Posted April 3, 2014 I love spring, too. We will probably have to start mowing within the next week or so. I don't think I will even mind that after this past winter. Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 My roses are blooming like crazy already. One positive thing about central CA. No winter at all. 1 Quote
Lion EA Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Brown and dead and temperatures are going to drop 20 degrees. My crocuses got buried during the ice storm of 2010; that might've been when we lost the daffodils and day lilies, too. Guess I should do some planting this year. No green buds on the trees, but they're pollinating and stirring up my allergies! Quote

We may hit 40 today though... mid 30's tomorrow. Hope we do not run out of heating oil, it cost $1k in March to fill. So sick of Winter! Quote

One of my friends (in NH) has a daily picture on facebook of the snow between him and his grill, out on the porch. When the snow pile is gone, it will officially be spring, he says. This morning it was about the size of a loaf of bread. 1 Quote

We had so much snow this winter that my kids even got tired of going out to play in it. They were begging to go back to school! We were planning our vacation last week and I told them we had decided to go to Alsaka. I thought there was going to be mutiny. Hope things warm up for you soon! 1 Quote
tinyfeet Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 BEAUTIFUL! Siberian Squill Crocus Daffodil 1 Quote
Lion EA Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Think I'll print all of them, cut them out, and paste them over my window panes to hide the gray sky, bare gray trees, brown grass, and all the logs from the trees knocked down during Sandy and Nemo/Athena. 5 Quote
