Jack from Ohio Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 20 year old student. Parent's home and domicile are Ohio. Going to college in OK. Earned $9K When I complete the OK NR form, it seems to make no difference in the amount of OK tax at all? Am I missing a step or information? Is that just how it is? He has no OH tax because his income is below the $10K threshold. Quote
pikester1967 Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Doesn't Oklahoma have a $15k exemption? Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 Doesn't Oklahoma have a $15k exemption? I did not see such a thing on the forms. Have to admit, I have not dealt very much with OK returns. Hoping for more experienced users to chime in. 1 Quote

kcjenkins Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 On 9K he'd owe $29 to OK. Assuming he's being claimed by his parents. Being a non-resident has no effect because all his income was OK income. 1 Quote

kcjenkins Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 I had several OK clients and one non-resident one, so got familiar with them. Glad it helped. 1 Quote
