MINOR'S TAX RETURN

Need suggestion on how to do the return heading and get it to clear for e-filing.

LY Preparer filed it as

First Name, MI. Last Name, A Minor

ATX doesn't like the Last Name, A Minor portion.

Suffix maybe?

The birthdate will tell the story.

IRS looks at only the first four letters of the last name. Doesn't like punctuation, though, so toss the comma.

I'd put First Initial Last.

You don't need that ", A Minor" at all. Drop it, and your problem is solved. The IRS already knows, from SSA, how old the kid is.

I agree with KC, I don't type "Michael J Smith an adult" on the returns.

I take it back... I enter the name exactly the way it is written on the SS card or ITIN. If any of those document reads "an adult" on the full name, I will type it exactly the way it is written.

Dropped it and clears the flag. Wanted to double check since LY preparer was an EA.

Don't know about everyone else, but I'm ready for some food from the Spot in Sidney lol.
