Colleen in MN Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Since the upgrade to 13.4 I cannot complete rollover. Error message: Rollover did not complete successfully. {name of return} could not be rolled due to communication error. I've restarted several times. Only doing 1 return rollover at a time. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance. Colleen Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Maybe open in 2012 to see if any updates apply then try rollover. I've not had that problem (knock, knock!), 3 rollovers are fine. Quote
Colleen in MN Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 Thanks Margaret, I checked and my 2012 is up to date. I uninstalled a Windows security update that had installed after 13.4.3 update and then restarted computer (again) and VOILA! now I can rollover. It seems the program is very unstable this year. Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 Was that security update with Microsoft Security Essentials? Quote
Colleen in MN Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 There were 4 windows updates after 13.4.3, so I started by uninstalling the newest and it worked. The title of the update is: Update for Windows 8.1 for x64 based Systems (KB2919442). The update is supposed to reduce unexpected windows system crashes, but appeared instead to interfere with ATX rollover. Maybe for the rest of tax season, I'll have to manually review windows updates and select only those that appear critical to avoid interference with ATX. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 Microsoft Security Essentials does 3 things. It (supposedly) watches for viruses. Secondly, it throws all that Bling spam etc at you. Thirdly, it looks for any other spyware or anti-virus programs and interferes with their operations, sometimes triggering false alerts. Microsoft Security Essentials should NOT be used on systems running ATX (or any other system in my opinion.) Quote
