ILLMAS Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 I don't know if it's a common problem, but if you transmit the federal first, let it transmit to agency, then you should transmit the state. I found this is a better way to avoid forgetting to transmit the state return afterwards, it will appear as created still and if it appears as held, you have to recreate it again. Quote
grandmabee Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 I don't for my state (OR). it is automatic. after federal is accepted then state moves to created manager and I just hit transmit. I have had no problems. Quote
Pacun Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 For me, it works like a champ. I get all the created returns on top. Then I click transmit on the 1040, as soon as I transmit, the corresponding state return moves to the middle as "held". I normally transmit twice a day so, the next time I do the same process. When the IRS accepts it, my "held" state returns jump to the top as "created" and I transmit a second time. It is nice a clean for me and I will never forget to transmit the state because I don't sort by last name by rather "status". How many times you have made a mistake and the federal rejects and the states accepts it? That has happened to me a couple of times and then I have to paper amend the state. With my setup, I will make that mistake only on April 15 afternoon when I will send both of them at the same time. 3 Quote
Pacun Posted February 9, 2014 Report Posted February 9, 2014 I just noticed that it works even better for me. When I create an efile file, my state automatically goes to a "held" position so when I am ready to transmit, I only have the "created" ones on top. I love this feature this year because last year it didn't work properly. 1 Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 9, 2014 Report Posted February 9, 2014 I just noticed that it works even better for me. When I create an efile file, my state automatically goes to a "held" position so when I am ready to transmit, I only have the "created" ones on top. I love this feature this year because last year it didn't work properly. That is the way it is supposed to work and it does work smoothly. That part of e-file last year was a HUGE time-killer because it did not work at all. Another difference this year, if you select returns in the e-file manager, those selections stay after you close the program. This is very helpful to anyone with a large number of clients. Quote
