Jack from Ohio Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Were you able to get back into the program? Quote
joanmcq Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 Nope. I'm doing a complete system reboot with scan disk, so it'll take a while. I can get in on my assistants computer but can only log in as her. And she can't do rollovers. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Which computer was setup as server? Which computer has 2012 program on it? Quote
joanmcq Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 The server computer is the one that's screwed up. 2013 program is the issue Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 If the computer was shut down improperly, there may be other issues. 2013 program should reopen once you have the boot sequence fixed from the improper shutdown. Quote
joanmcq Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 server computer still won't open the program, but it does open under either sign-in on the other workstation. However, I can't roll over any returns since they are all on the server computer since that was my only computer last year. Any ideas on how to fix this? I need to call tech support tomorrow. Quote
Pacun Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Who is logging on to the Windows server? is that a regular user or an administrator? You should power down all workstation and boot up the Windows server by itself and try again. As Jack said it seems to be a HD corruption that a gracefully power down and boot up could solve. Quote
SFA Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Joan, have you loaded any new programs recently that may have changed the settings on your computer? The reboot may have then activated those changes. Last week we installed firefox on one of our new computers. Several other junk programs appeared on the desktop. I couldn't open ATX 2013 on that computer. We uninstalled the new junk, ran malware, and were then able to open ATX. Our tech man actually did the work, so he may have made some additional adjustments to fix the problem that I don't have the details for. I am sorry to hear of your struggles. Our problem was probably not the same issue that you are dealing with. Just throwing it into the mix here in case in some way it is helpful. 1 Quote
Lion EA Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Jack is having remote-into-your-computer Saturday.... 1 Quote
joanmcq Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 I did a reboot and then did a reboot with scandisk. Didn't help. The workstation is running ATX fine, albeit a bit slow to boot as it does if the program is not open on the server. Quote
kcjenkins Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Put a cover over the power switch, too, so that the cat can not reach it! And contact Jack for help Sat. Quote
joanmcq Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 Tech support was able to fix it. I'm going to get the patch from Jack tomorrow. Utterly stupid design on my HP. every other desktop has the power button on the front, not the top of the tower. Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 Tape a cup over it, if the cat is a regular in the office. They love warm spots like the top of a computer! Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 Tech support was able to fix it. I'm going to get the patch from Jack tomorrow. Utterly stupid design on my HP. every other desktop has the power button on the front, not the top of the tower. Take the front of the tower off. Not difficult. Then remove the button from the front. It will mean you have to use your finger to push down the stem of the switch, but your can will not be able to push it. I will be in contact tomorrow. Quote
