giogis245 Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 A client got a check and lost it and just found it again, he doesn't recall if it has an expiration on it and from what I have googled, I can't get an accurate answers because some information I have found says 90 days others 1 year, what is it? When do the IRS checks expire? Quote
jklcpa Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 I thought it was one year also. Why not just use Form 3911 to request a replacement? In the top section it has a box specifically for refund checks not processed within 12 months of issuance. The client could try to deposit it, and the government might honor it, but if it bounces then he will be charged a returned check fee. 1 Quote

Then they'll go ahead and re-issue you another check. Quote
