Ranger Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 Can some anyone point me in the right direction on how to e-file with two separate computers? I know it has something to do with setting a counter on each machine? Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Quote
Gileam Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 You are referring to the DCN Counter But the best way to transmit with two computers is to network them together. Are these two computers both running ATX and at the same physical location? Quote
mcb39 Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 On the rare occasion when I do have to e-file from my laptop at a different location; I set the DCN counter on the laptop to start at 500 so there will be no repeat DCNs. I prefer to export the return to jump drive; take home and import and e-file from the desktop there, but every once in a while I have had to use this method. E-filing an extension at the second location and at the last minute, comes to mind. Quote
Ranger Posted January 18, 2014 Author Report Posted January 18, 2014 Yeah that’s it. How do you set the DCN counter? Thanks! Quote
kcjenkins Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 You can set the DCN to start at any number, although the default starts at 1. So if using two separate machines to transmit, set the DCN on the second machine to start at 500, and you then can also know from just looking at the number which machine it was transmitted from. To set the DCN, on the second machine, click on Efile Manager, then on E-file, drop down to Modify DCN Series, and set it. Quote
