Math "puzzle" .... chuckle for the day!

Don't know who to credit for this one... here goes!

Here is a math trick so unbelieveable that it will stump you.

1. Get the calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your head)

2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)

3. Multiply by 80

4. Add 1

5. Multiply by 250

6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number

7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again

8. Subtract 250

9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer? Amazing!!

As a math freak in school, it is a simple circular equation.

It works for any phone number, because you are introducing calculations which cancel one another out. In the process, you are providing the relevant information in steps 2 and 6 + 7, (after netting out the sum of 6 +7 in step 9 by dividing by 2).

Enter it all in a spreadsheet and you can get a visual of how it does its magic.
