DEO Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 Refund for returns on extension for year 2010 The IRS issue refunds for a particular year if you requested an extension and subsequently file a tax return within three years from the extended deadline, i.e. 10/15/13. NYS will issue a refund 3 yrs from when the return is due. Does this mean (bearing in mind an extension was filed for 2010) October 15, 2013 or is it April 15, 2013. Thanks for your assistance Quote
Mr. Pencil Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 NYS will issue a refund 3 yrs from when the return is due. The 2010 return was due in 2011, so three years is 2014. Quote
MsTabbyKats Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 I never knew the federal refunds could be extended to 3 years from the extension file date (10/15). (They do???) However, if so, since NY is a federally conforming state...they do whatever the fed does. But....I'd check on this with the tax dept. to be sure Quote
