Elrod Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today reminded the nation’s almost 690,000 federal tax return preparers that they must renew their Preparer Tax Identification Numbers (PTINs) for 2014. All current PTINs will expire on Dec. 31, 2013. http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/2014-PTIN-Renewal-Period-Underway-for-Tax-Professionals Quote
TonyP Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 Tried to get in the website, most of the time kept getting kicked-out for a time-out error after entering username & password. Got past that a couple of times, and got in, however received another time-out error after clicking-on the "Renew" button. Tried contacting their 1-877 number, but got placed on hold for about 20 minutes, I then gave-up. I'll try next week. Maybe the same folks who designed the Healthcare Website also designed the PTIN Website. Quote
Guest Taxed Posted November 1, 2013 Report Posted November 1, 2013 I was able to log in yesterday without any delay. I am assuming as the news spread that PTIN is open, traffic is heavy. Wait another 2 weeks and try again. What's the rush?? Quote
JohnH Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 I usually wait until the last minute for most things, But out of curiosity I decided to log in this evening while relaxing at home. It took about 10 minutes and I was all finished. I pay by e-check and I think that may speed things up. When it came time to pay, I just told the system to use the same as last year. (have seen some complaints about people having to wait for credit/debit cards to be approved). Quote
Guest Taxed Posted November 2, 2013 Report Posted November 2, 2013 >>> It took about 10 minutes and I was all finished. Now if we can only get Healthcare.gov to do the same on 12/1/2013 Quote
