ILLMAS Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Has anyone been contacted by health insurance representative that wants to work with your non-insured tax clients to sign them for the ACA? Quote
Mr. Pencil Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Has anyone been contacted by health insurance representative that wants to work with your non-insured tax clients to sign them for the ACA? That is not one of the permissible disclosures under Reg 301.7216-2. The penalty is $250 for each name you provide without client consent. 1 Quote
jklcpa Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Thanks for that reminder, Mr. Pencil. MAS, was the rep asking for clients' names, or was the rep only networking and marketing his/her services? Quote
ILLMAS Posted October 17, 2013 Author Report Posted October 17, 2013 At this point he was marketing his services, but recent clients I have talked too, I am referring them to the healthcare.gov website, I want no involvement of my time. 2 Quote
Guest Taxed Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Just yesterday I deleted an e-mail from some outfit that wants to partner with tax preparers on this opportunity. The e-mail was an invite to some seminar. I am sure we will see a lot more of these outfits spring up between now and next year. I think they were waiting to see what would happen to ACA. Quote
ILLMAS Posted October 17, 2013 Author Report Posted October 17, 2013 There has to be some type of kickback to be offering that service. 2 Quote
