TAG Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Would new windows & siding on a rental property qualify as Section 179 Property? Quote
Guest Taxed Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 The last time I had one of those situations I researched it and came to the conclusion that S.179 is not applicable so we depreciated. If I recall the cost was over $30K so it would have raised a red flag had we expensed it. Quote
taxit Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 I believe S179 does not apply to rentals. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Anything considered part of the structure is not eligible for 179. Carpet and furnishings are different. Quote

jshtax Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 179 is not allowed on rental last I checked. Quote
