For those of you who remember our old friend Louis Sheffield, I just read this from his wife Lanny.

Well tomorrow is Cardiac Surgeon for Louis.....please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.......He has all ready been thru so much......God is good.

I remember him very well. He was one of the backbones of the board. Louis was always such a gentleman.

He used his actual name, Louis Sheffield, on the original ATX board.

Yes, he used his name, and he and I developed a friendship based on two things, our office dogs and our late-night hours. Louis was very knowledgeable on tax matters and a really nice person. He retired a few years ago due to medical problems.

Louis Sheffield was always very professional in this forum. He gave solid advice based on the tax code and normal practices. But he didn't argue if someone had some crazy idea to push the limits. He just said what was true, and then shut up.
