Eric Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 There are four or five people who really like talking politics. There are a couple more who chime in from time to time. There are a few who tell me they are sick of seeing it. I stay out of it, but look at some of the threads once in a while out of morbid curiosity. Anyway, let me know what you think. Time for a politics forum? I already know that a lot of people are going to say "Ignore it if you don't like it" but I figured I'd ask anyway.
jklcpa Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 Yes, Eric, I think it's time for a separate forum where those few can argue to their heart's content. It used to be that KC would post her political posts or cartoons, and those were mostly ignored by some of us that don't share her views. Now we have many threads concerning politics and scandals, and we also have threads that start out having nothing to do with politics that suddenly morph into political arguments. Some threads that are meant as lighthearted offseason topics, such as Elrod's "What Were You Doing When This Happened" thread, that in prior years would most likely have received nothing but lighthearted replies and banter, have also turned quickly to politics. Then there are some threads that may even be posted by one side or the other seemingly trying to goad the other side into the arguing. I was fine with the ignoring the political threads and cartoons posted by KC and others, but now that is almost impossible due to the postings of a few. I'm tired of opening thread after thread that are nothing but a couple of people arguing politics. Let them have their own space. 2
BulldogTom Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 If you will confine that crazy woman "Taxed" to that forum only, I am all for it. Sorry for posting after saying I wouldn't for a while, but any chance to put that woman out of the mainstream forum and into a political fantasy land is something I have to advocate for. Back to my hibernation. Maybe will see you all in January. Tom Hollister, CA 1
Guest Taxed Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 Eric, please go ahead, I am sure Jack from Ohio will agree too?
Eric Posted August 4, 2013 Author Report Posted August 4, 2013 lol Politics forum coming up. I'm going to add a new emoticon for me to use in there too. EDIT: 2
Lion EA Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 Well, that had me confused until I read this thread. I'd been responding to a NY issue, but it was moved to the Politics forum as I was editing! Thank you for the new forum, Eric. It's going to keep me from getting distracted while I still have lots of returns to do, and it's going to keep my blood pressure from rising. I like your new emoticon, too!
mcb39 Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 I agree with Bulldog. I agree with Jack and Lion.
Guest Taxed Posted August 5, 2013 Report Posted August 5, 2013 lol Politics forum coming up. I'm going to add a new emoticon for me to use in there too. EDIT: I like that emoticon!
Randall Posted August 5, 2013 Report Posted August 5, 2013 I'm sure one side will convince the other side to change their views. Then we'll all be in agreement. 1
Eric Posted August 5, 2013 Author Report Posted August 5, 2013 I'm sure one side will convince the other side to change their views. Then we'll all be in agreement. Ha!
Lion EA Posted August 5, 2013 Report Posted August 5, 2013 Better load up on LOTS of popcorn while you wait for that to happen! 1
JohnH Posted August 5, 2013 Report Posted August 5, 2013 I've already changed my mind. When I was in my 20's, my heart caused my mind to lean Liberal. By my 40's, I discovered I had both a heart and a brain, which changed me to a Conservative. 2

SCL Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 What JohnH said!!you all should have stayed with your initial youthful, idealistic, and correct inclination...instead of your latter day aged, cynical, and wrong point of view sell out.
taxxcpa Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 Hopefully, all of Anthony Weiner's supporters will post their favorite pictures of the Weenie man.
JohnH Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 you all should have stayed with your initial youthful, idealistic, and correct inclination... instead of your latter day aged, cynical, and wrong point of view sell out. Nothing wrong with being youthful and idealistic. The problem is, it's only correct if you do it with your own money. When you begin to use the power of the government to confiscate the property of others to achieve your altruistic goals, it becomes nothing more than legalized theft. 1
Guest Taxed Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 Hopefully, all of Anthony Weiner's supporters will post their favorite pictures of the Weenie man. He is a stubborn guy who will not quit the race but I think New Yorkers have seen enough of him! BTW Ms. Leathers also got her claim to fame. Now she is thinking of doing a porn flick??
jklcpa Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 I am locking this thread, the point of which was to ask whether we wanted a separate forum for the political discussions. That forum is now set up, so if you have specific topics or ideologies to discuss, you may take them there. A thread entitled "I was a ____ and switched my party affiliation and beliefs in line with the ________ because" would be worth the movie ticket and .
