NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 I have a Sub-S that receives 9 K-1s. This year, the Nebraska ones spun off losses and the Iowa ones have a profit. Neither at risk or basis is a problem for the losses. There is a large net loss for the S Corp for the year. In preparing the Iowa return, the apportionment schedule is computing very strangely and coming up with a negative business activity ratio and producing numbers that can't be correct. I know that it can't be right. Of course, it is all different kinds of income. (Interest, rental and ordinary) Maybe I am overthinking this, but This doesn't look even close to being correct. I've been looking at it too long, I think. I don't know if I should just override and make the Iowa numbers be just what is on their k-1s or not. Thanks for any help. Quote
kcjenkins Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 If you have worked through the apportionment rules [some states have really quirky rules] and are confident you have computed it right, go ahead and override, but keep your worksheet in the client file, just in case. Quote
